How we bill
Most work is billed hourly. We tell you the lawyer’s rate before any work starts, and it is set out in your retainer agreement.
Limited scope retainers
You don’t have to hand us your whole file. For many family law matters you can hire us for defined pieces of work, say a separation agreement or preparing you for a hearing, and do the rest yourself. Our retainer agreement sets out exactly what we are doing and what we are not, so there are no surprises. This is often the most affordable way to get proper legal help.
Full retainers
For matters that need a lawyer on the file throughout, including litigation, we act on a full retainer with a deposit held in trust and billed against as work is done.
