    Groceries, a bus pass, a phone bill, a child’s school supplies. Small amounts, paid quickly, for people whose income stopped when their relationship ended.

    Filing fees, process servers, certified copies, an assessment report. This fund never pays a legal bill owed to our firm.

    Wherever It’s Needed Most

    For the situations we could not have predicted. A hotel for three nights. A locksmith. A flight home.

Make a Donation

We are registering as a charity before we take a single dollar, so the rules, the criteria and the reporting are in place first. Registered charities can issue tax receipts, and we would rather do this properly than quickly. We are not accepting donations yet. To hear when the fund opens, send a note to info@kirkerlaw.ca.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Not yet. We are applying for charitable registration, and we are not accepting donations until that is granted. Once it is, you will receive a tax receipt for every eligible gift.

  • To one of three funds: the Kitchen Table Fund, the Court Costs Fund, or Wherever It’s Needed Most. You choose when you give. Every dollar goes to the funds, and the firm covers the administration.

  • Yes. We will need committee members from outside the firm, and we will need local businesses willing to donate goods. Email info@kirkerlaw.ca.

  • Grocery cards, bus passes and phone cards are exactly what the funds use. We will confirm how to send them once we are registered.

  • Yes, once we are open. You will be able to add a name when you give, and we will send an acknowledgment to whoever you nominate.
